Located at Arkema’s headquarters in La Défense, Le Lab is a permanent innovation showroom designed as a space for discovery and dialogue around the future of materials. Commissioned directly by Arkema and conceived by scenographer WMH, the 200 m² environment presents the group’s expertise through a series of interactive installations developed to explain complex scientific concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
Visitors explore the showroom through a journey composed of ten interactive installations combining touchscreens, physical objects and transparent displays. The experience unfolds across several thematic chapters: an introduction to Arkema’s vision and global challenges, an exploration of its research and development activities, and dedicated sections focusing on recycling, industrial markets and everyday applications. Designed as a science museum–like environment, the installations reveal how advanced materials contribute to solving environmental and technological challenges.
We conceived the interactive experiences as a coherent narrative system combining educational storytelling with engaging visual design. Each installation translates complex scientific topics into intuitive interfaces and dynamic visual content, allowing visitors to explore Arkema’s innovations through hands-on interaction.
The showroom experiences were developed as a unified web-based platform enabling multiple interactive installations to run within a shared software ecosystem. This architecture allows simplified deployment, maintenance and adaptation of the experiences for other contexts such as trade shows or external events. The system was designed, deployed and automated to ensure reliable operation across the entire showroom environment.
